1. Scope
Compass Careers (“Compass”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is a career-exploration business founded by Ali Waris Rao and Safiya Valiulla and based in Delhi, India. Compass Careers is a trade name of Ali Waris Rao.
This policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect personal information when you use compasscareers.in or our services. Questions about this policy may be sent to compasscareers.help@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
- Application details: name, email address, college, year of study, career paths under consideration, decision timing, your main challenge, an optional note, and confirmation that you are 18 or older.
- Referral and usage details: the link that brought you to us (for example, a student club’s link) and the preview paths you tried, sent only with your application.
- Phone number: only if you choose to share it with us, for example to arrange a call.
- Payment details: payments are processed by Razorpay. We receive the payment status and amount, and the name, email address and phone number entered at checkout. We never see or store your card or UPI details.
- Service records: your reflections, written feedback and decision brief.
3. How we use it
We use personal information only to respond to your application, confirm that we can cover your paths, deliver and support the service you purchased, improve the experiences we offer, and meet our legal and tax obligations.
4. Cookies and analytics
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use this site (for example, which pages are read and where people get stuck), so we can improve it. Clarity sets cookies and records anonymised page interactions such as clicks and scrolling. It does not record what you type into forms, and it does not run on our payment pages. Microsoft processes this data under its own privacy statement. We do not use advertising trackers.
Our payment page loads Razorpay’s secure checkout, which may use cookies and device information to process your payment and prevent fraud, under Razorpay’s own privacy policy.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site still works without them.
5. Service providers and storage
We rely on a small number of service providers to operate Compass: Netlify (website hosting and forms, including spam screening), Google (email, documents, records and video calls), Razorpay (payment processing) and Microsoft (Clarity site analytics). These providers may store information outside India.
6. Disclosure
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with the service providers listed above, as needed to deliver our services, or where required by law. Where a parent or guardian has paid for a service, we share the student’s brief or feedback with them only with the student’s consent.
7. Security
Access to personal information is restricted to the founders. Our accounts are protected by strong passwords and two-step verification, information is transmitted over HTTPS, and we do not store payment details.
8. Retention
- Applications that do not proceed: up to 12 months after our last contact.
- Customers: for as long as needed to deliver and support the service, with payment records kept for the period required by Indian tax law.
9. Your rights
You may request access to, correction of or deletion of your personal information, or withdraw your consent to further contact, by emailing compasscareers.help@gmail.com. We respond to such requests within one month.
10. Children
Our services are intended only for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger, and we delete any such information we become aware of.
11. Grievance redressal
Grievance Officer: Ali Waris Rao, Co-founder. Email: compasscareers.help@gmail.com. In line with the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020, we acknowledge every complaint within 48 hours and resolve it within one month of receipt.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes take effect when published on this page, with the date above updated.
